Red Wheat malt is typically used for brewing red beers. It’s a pale wheat malt and is made from American hard spring red wheat. As with other malted grains, this malt has a sweet, malty flavor as well as a slightly fruity taste. Due to the large protein content in wheat malts, they are ideal for increased body and head formation and in some cases, greater retention. Unlike white wheat malts, red wheat malt contains some tartness in its flavor profile and has smaller, harder kernels, so great attention in milling may be necessary. This malt is perfect for all wheat-style beers!
